We can inspect your furniture to advise if your furniture has a woodworm issue, this assessment can be done at your property free of charge.

We use specialised woodworm treatment to stop further damage to your furniture. We can restore any damage caused by woodworm or strengthen any weakness already caused. We stock a large amount of antique timber to replace if need be.

We use a high pressure system for injecting into the woodworm holes for deep penetration.

What is woodworm?

Woodworm is the wood-eating larvae of various species of beetles.

You may not realise that you have a woodworm problem in your furniture until the resulting damaging becomes visible. If left untreated, woodworm can seriously weaken furniture woodwork and this can easily spread to other wooden furniture and timber in your property.

If you are unsure if your furniture has an infestation of woodworm it is understandable as woodworm beetles and larvae are very difficult to see.

Signs that indicate that your furniture has a woodworm problem include:

•  Exit holes: These can be found all year round, but often form from May to October. The sizes holes are approx 2mm, similar looking to the holes in a dart board. Depending on the severity of the infestation, you may need to be observant to identify all the areas in your furniture.
• Bore dust: This is a powdery fine dust (the insects excreta) which is often found around the exit holes, this is dust is also known as “frass”. If you don’t find any holes, you might see frass escaping from the back or underside of your furniture. Again this indicates that there could be an active woodworm infestation.
• Live adult beetles: If you are seeing beetles emerging from furniture, then take this as clear evidence there is a woodworm issue
• Dead beetles: If you spot dead beetles near to holes in your furniture then your more than likely will have woodworm in your furniture.
• Woodworm larvae: these are usually creamy-white colour, but it is very difficult to see.
